Residential

1606

This home was built in 1970 and typical of that time the kitchen was closed off from the main living area and he also had two living rooms. We left the two living areas separate due to their size however, I wanted to give the rooms a feeling of being open but also separate. I had a small wall removed from the corner of the kitchen, took out the wall that divided the kitchen from the first living room and had his cabinet maker extend his kitchen counter the entire length of the first living area. This gave the kitchen excessive counter space, extra cabinet space and gave the feel of being a somewhat open concept yet there is still a distinction between each room.

We removed wood paneling, sheet rocked, laid vinyl wood flooring, installed pendant lighting and decorated. It was a busy time working on two projects at once but it was during this time that I truly began to fall in love with interior design.
